The National Independence Thanksgiving Service will come off this Sunday, November 26, at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex, Wildey, St. Michael, at 10:00 a.m.
The service, in celebration of Barbados’ 57th Anniversary of Independence, is being held under the theme: Embracing Our Heritage With Faith and Thanks.
Rector of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Reverend Erma Ambrose, will be the Officiant of the service, while Administrative Bishop of the New Testament Church of God, Dr. Kenroy Burke, will deliver the sermon.
The focus this year is on youth participation and there will be representation from various denominations, including the Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Jewish communities, as well as Covenant Life Dance group, the 75 Voices-strong Combined Choir; The Barbados YouthADVANCE Corps and schools across the island.
Those attending can expect a musical medley by the Band of The Barbados Police Service; the recital of the National Pledge by a student of The Irving Wilson School; the presentation of the National Flag of Barbados by The Barbados Boy Scouts Association; and intercessory prayers by The Prince’s Trust International Team Programme.
Persons attending the service will be directed to the designated parking areas. Attendees are expected to be seated in the gymnasium by 9:15 a.m.
