COVID-19 – May 27, 2020. No New Cases, Five Leave Isolation Today

The number of patients in isolation for COVID-19 dropped to single digits today with the release of five recovered persons. There are now nine people remaining in isolation.           

There were no more new positive cases among the 150 tests done yesterday by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory, which has completed 5,038 tests.

Of the 92 confirmed cases recorded since March 16, 76 persons have now recovered and seven have died.

COVID-19 – May 25, 2020. One Person Leaves Isolation; No New Positives

One person will be released from COVID-19 isolation today.

This brings the total number of recoveries from the novel coronavirus in Barbados to 71 and reduces the number of persons in isolation to 14.

Fifty-six tests were conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory yesterday, and to date the lab has completed 4,788 tests.

Barbados has recorded 92 confirmed cases of this infectious illness, and there have been seven deaths.

COVID-19 Update – May 24, 2020 No New Cases Today

There were no new cases of COVID-19 diagnosed yesterday among the 68 tests performed by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory, and no one will be released from isolation today.

While the number of tests conducted has risen to 4,732, all other statistics remain the same – 92 confirmed cases, comprising 49 females and 43 males; 70 recoveries; 15 people in isolation; and seven deaths.

COVID-19 Update – May 23, 2020: Two Women Test Positive Today

Two women, aged 57 and 56, are the latest COVID-19 positive patients in Barbados, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 92. The 56-year-old is the fifth member of a Bridgetown church to test positive.

The case of the 57-year-old is not related to the church and is currently under investigation by the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness said today that it had now completed the testing of 30 people whose names were supplied by the church as members. All of the others tested negative.  

It revealed that while the church had originally supplied a list of 28 members, that list was recently upgraded to add two others.

Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Anton Best, said today that aggressive contact tracing was ongoing to locate persons with whom the confirmed cases were in close contact.

The two positive results were among 123 returned by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory yesterday.

Meanwhile, no one will be released from isolation today, so the number of people isolated now stands at 15. Recoveries remain at 70, and seven deaths have been recorded. The laboratory has completed 4,664 tests.

COVID-19 Update: May 22, 2020 All Negative Test Results Today

There were no new positive cases of COVID-19 among the 103 tests conducted yesterday by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The laboratory has now completed 4,541 tests. Barbados has recorded 90 confirmed cases of the viral illness, and seven deaths.  Seventy people have so far recovered, and 13 remain in isolation. 

COVID-19 Update: May 21, 2020 No New Cases Today

There are no newly diagnosed cases of COVID-19 in Barbados today.  All 116 tests conducted for the viral illness yesterday were negative.

The number of persons infected since March 16 remains at 90 – 47 females and 43 males. Seventy people have recovered and 13 remain in isolation. No one was released from isolation today.

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory has now completed 4,438 tests.

COVID-19 Update May 19th, 2020

Two people tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday out of a total of 163 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

They are a 58-year-old Barbadian woman, who arrived in the island yesterday and whose case is under investigation, and a 42-year-old crew member of one of the cruise ships off Barbados, who was transferred from the ship for emergency medical treatment.

No one was released from isolation today. There are now 90 confirmed cases of COVID-19 – 47 females and 43 males. Fifteen people are in isolation, and 68 others have recovered. Seven people have died.

Up to yesterday, 4,167 tests had been completed by the public health laboratory.

COVID-19 Update May 17th, 2020

Two Barbadian women are the latest COVID-19 positive cases. Aged 21 and 35, they were both identified through contact tracing.

The number of persons who have been confirmed infected by the viral illness now stands at 88. Meanwhile, one person will be released from isolation today.

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory carried out 141 tests yesterday, bringing the total number of tests completed since February 11 to 3,924. 

Sixty-eight people have now recovered, and 13 are in isolation. There have been seven deaths.

COVID-19 Update May 16th, 2020

Barbados’ latest COVID-19 positive case is a 55-year-old Barbadian man who was identified through contact tracing by the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

His was the only positive test out of 132 carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory yesterday.  Two people will be released from isolation today.

This brings the number of confirmed cases of the viral illness to 86 – 44 women and 42 men. Sixty-seven people have recovered, seven have died and 12 remain in isolation.

The public health laboratory has now completed 3,783 tests. (BGIS)

COVID-19 Update May 15th, 2020

No new positive cases of COVID-19 were recorded by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The lab conducted 171 tests yesterday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 tests done to 3,651. In addition, 13 persons will remain in isolation since none of the patients received two consecutive negative test results.

To date, the island has confirmed 85 cases of COVID-19, of which 65 persons have recovered, and seven have died.

COVID-19 Update May 13th, 2020

Eight persons will be released from isolation today after they received two consecutive negative test results for COVID-19. This reduces the number of persons in isolation to 13, and brings the island’s total recoveries to 65.

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 138 tests yesterday, of which, there were no new positives.  Therefore, Barbados’ confirmed COVID-19 cases remain at 85. To date, 3,323 tests have been completed.

The island has recorded seven deaths to COVID-19.

COVID-19 Update May 12th, 2020

A 31-year-old Barbadian male is the latest COVID-19 positive case in Barbados.

His case is currently being investigated by the Ministry of Health and Wellness, since he has no recent travel history nor can he be linked to any known contacts.

His was the only positive result among 177 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory yesterday.

There are now 85 cases of COVID-19 – 44 females and 41 males. The number of persons in isolation has moved to 21, while the number of recovered persons remains at 57. There have been seven deaths.

The public health laboratory has now completed 3185 tests.

COVID-19 Update May 9th, 2020

A 32-year-old man is the latest person to test positive for COVID-19.
His positive test result was among 138 returned by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory yesterday. All of the others were negative.
The source of contact for this new case is under investigation by the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
Meanwhile, four persons will leave isolation today after two consecutive negative tests for the viral illness. This brings the number of persons in isolation down to 20 and the number of recoveries up to 57.
There are now 84 confirmed cases in Barbados and the number of deaths remains at seven.
Up to yesterday, the public health laboratory completed 2926 tests.
