As part of their new slogan, Discover The New Post, the Barbados Postal Service is offering the public the opportunity to have their online renewed driver’s licence delivered directly to them.

This service was launched on August 19, when Minister of Innovation, Science and Smart Technology, Senator Kay McConney, in collaboration with Minister of Home Affairs, Information and Public Affairs, Wilfred Abrahams, announced the new partnership, where Barbadians who opt to renew their driver’s licences online, through Government’s online facility EZ Pay Plus, could choose to receive their renewed licence, for an additional fee.

Home Affairs Minister Wilfred Abrahams described the new development “as another step in the aim to redevelop the Postal Service, into one of the best entities on island”.

According to Postmaster General, Valeta Best, so far they had received favourable feedback on the new service, and had delivered over 100 renewed licences as of Thursday, August 27.

The Barbados Government Information Service spoke with one of the postmen involved in the delivery of renewed licences, Richard Cummins, who stated: “So far, it is exciting; there is a lot of energy in it, and we are giving of our best to make it happen.

“My experience also is that the customers are very, very pleased with what is going on, and I am happy that the customers are happy and it is making the Post Office look good.”

Mr. Cummins also noted that the postmen were being very accommodating in their delivery service, in that, if an individual had submitted their home address for delivery, but was at work when the time for delivery came, they delivered to the work address instead.
