Prime Minister Mia Mottley appealed to Barbadians to stay at home as the country braces for the impact of Tropical Storm Gonzalo.

Speaking at a press briefing at Murphy’s Pasture, Emmerton, St Michael earlier today, Mottley said not to take the sudden weakening of the storm for granted.

“Thus far Gonalzo has behaved like a drunken person, up and down and when you already have that kind of behaviour in a system, then my advice to all Barbadians is that we must stay vigilant,” Mottley said.

“Effectively those who should be on the road tomorrow, unless the tropical storm warning is lifted, should only be the essential workers and the critical care workers in the country.”

She also said to sea lovers to stay out of the sea, ” We expect everybody to stay in and stay safe…we are appealing to persons to stay out of the sea tomorrow there is no good reason why you need to go in tomorrow.. you do Sunday.”
