Harrison College (HC) will play host to several students from Campion College, Jamaica, who will be visiting the Crumpton Street St. Michael institution from Wednesday, January 25, to Wednesday, January 31, on a Student Exchange programme.

The visit comes as a result of a partnership that started last year, when a delegation of sixth formers from HC visited Campion College from October 25, and remained there for one  week.

Sixth Form Year Head at HC, Carl Applewhaite, giving the rationale for the exchange programme, said it was in keeping with Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley’s desire to develop more active citizens.

Explaining further, he stressed: “The exchange seeks to impact four main areas of student development: academic advances, inter-cultural sensitivities, personal goals, and professional benefits.  In addition, the identification of a regional territory provides an opportunity for students’ sensibilities to be widened, as they are exposed to regional issues, which they may have to confront in the future.

“It is intended that the students will become more flexible, creative and innovative as a result of this initiative.”

The reciprocal visit will see the Jamaican contingent engaging in educational and cultural activities while attending Harrison College during the last week of this month.

The Campion College students will be welcomed by the principal, staff and students during a reception at 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25, in the auditorium.
