Government’s latest housing project, HOPE Inc. Premium, was launched last evening at Atlantic Breeze, Chancery Lane, Christ Church, and it is aimed at attracting persons who earn a minimum of $4,000 a month.

Minister of Housing, Lands and Maintenance, William Duguid, disclosed this during his remarks to launch the project.

Stating that Government’s broad goal is to provide affordable housing for all, he said: “Many persons will need rental accommodation now, until they can obtain their own homes. Many will need subsidised social housing, until their circumstances improve; the homeless and other vulnerable groups still have to be looked after as well. We have to cater to all groups and initiatives in our society, especially those who need the most assistance, but we firmly believe that shelter is fundamental to human dignity.”

He continued: “The HOPE Inc. Premium project has been created to encourage persons, within the middle income strata to own land and house at an affordable cost.  It is a grand opportunity for young professionals, earning between $4,000 and $8000, per month to own a piece of the rock with a home and a comfortable environment.”

The 35-acre plot of land will house 267 housing solutions, 136 two bedroom houses, and 131 three bedroom houses. The plots, which would be a minimum of 3,500 square feet, would accommodate houses ranging from 975 to 1225 square feet.

Mr. Duguid added: “This development at Chancery Lane seems well crafted and designed.  The technical team is, therefore, to be commended for their hard work, as they move towards the futuristic designs.

“Preconco is also to be commended for partnering with the Government at a time when it is more critical than ever to stimulate our economy.  It was one of the several companies which responded to our advertisement for joint venture partners.  We stand ready to partner, where possible, with other similar developers who are ready to provide the financing; we will endeavour to provide the land.”
