Harrison College (HC) will resume its Mosaic Concert series after a hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mosaic VIII: Nostalgia will launch tomorrow, Tuesday, February 7, in the school’s auditorium at Crumpton Street, St. Michael, at 8:45 a.m.

During the event, presentations will be made to Mosaic honourees, Nicholas Brancker; Sir Emile Straker, in absentia; and posthumously to William “Smokey” Burke, with a gift to his daughter, Sharon Carter-Burke, on behalf of his family.

According to Past President of the Parent -Teacher Association, Lesley Greig, with Harrison College celebrating its 290th anniversary, the theme Nostalgia has been aptly chosen.

“It resonates with us for several reasons. We are rekindling the great music of this annual concert series after a two-year hiatus.  We are remembering those talented alumni who graced the Mosaic stage in prior years, some of whom have since passed on. We are highlighting the musical prowess of alumni who continue to make strides locally and internationally with their contributions to the art form and to the industry.

“As is customary, Mosaic VIII will present the unique opportunity for budding HC artistes to share the stage with seasoned Kolij alumni musicians, both the hobbyists and those who are professionals in the local and international music industry,” Mrs. Greig stated.

Mosaic VIII will be held under the distinguished patronage of former Harrisonian Cleviston Haynes, outgoing Governor of the Central Bank of Barbados.  It will take the form of a gala evening at the Frank Collymore Hall on Sunday, March 26, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Various fine art and photography works produced by past and current students and teachers will be available for viewing and sale during the evening.  Proceeds of the evening will be used to support the music, art, and sports programmes at Harrison College.
