Thousands lined the street at various vantage points to see the passing funeral procession making its journey from Lyndhurst Funeral Home in Passage Road through Bridgetown stopping in front of Parliament for one minute where in the House of Assembly he served the people of Barbados representing the people of St.Peter for 34 years and as the Prime Minister for 14 years. The longest serving Prime Minister of Barbados. It then made its way in a northerly direction through Broad Street passing Kensington Oval since his love for Cricket was well known. Another one minute pause before making its way through St James on to Bataleys, Queen Street St.Peter where the Casket was removed from the hearse and Owen Arthur’s flag draped casket was placed atop the green and gold gun carriage. It was escorted by members of the Royal Barbados Police Force and the Barbados Defence Force.
On reaching the Church the casket was removed from the gun-carriage and taken to the entrance of the St.Peter Parish Church for the Reception of the Body by The Rev. Canon Peter H.O.W. Haynes. ( pictured below. )
