Government has decided to extend the existing curfew from January 14, until January 31.

The curfew was implemented on January 2nd to allow the government to better assess an outbreak of COVID-19 cases in Barbados.

The curfew is intended to restrict activity and movement which could lead to the further spread of the disease on the island.

The extension of the curfew will restrict the gathering of crowds which might also create conditions for increased COVID infections.

A full update on the current situation will be given at a press conference tomorrow Thursday, January 14.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness is advising persons who have been informed that they have tested positive for COVID-19 not to go to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility on their own.

Instead, they are to wait for the designated transportation from the Ministry to collect and transport them.

Additionally, persons who have been tested for COVID-19 are urged not to go to the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory for their results.

All results will be communicated to recipients by the designated health personnel. The Ministry thanks members of the public for their cooperation in this matter.
