Prime Minister Freundel Stuart delivered the feature address and  later unveiled the inscription plaque and received the inscription certificate from UNESCO’s Director General Irina Bokova.

Minister of Family, Culture, Sport and Youth the Honourable Stephen Lashley and Ms. Bokova made remarks, while Minister of Tourism, Richard Sealy unveiled the signage. There were performances by Gabby, Rupee, Pinelands Creative Workshop and the Barbados Landship, the Royal Barbados Police Force Band, the St. Leonard’s Boys’ Choir and the Regiment Band in Zouave uniform, among others.

82 DAYS ROWING ALONE

PORT ST CHARLES, BARBADOS


TOMMY TIPPETTS, a 23 year old, this  morning  rowed into Port St Charles Harbour, on the  north western coast of  Barbados to a small welcome comittee led  by   his Father Christopher Tibbetts, his mother Rosalind and  his sister Lizzie. The trip took him  82 days rowing alone across the Atlantic.

Tommy Tippets is  the youngest person to row the Atlantic single handed. The trip took  him 82 days

Minibus Overturns


Barbados is holding its own, and it intends to successfully weather the lingering global economic downturn. That is the message Prime Minister Freundel Stuart left with scores of Barbadians living and working in and around Washington DC during a town hall meeting last evening. The event was held at the Bishop John T. Walker National Learning Centre of the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, which is pastored by West Indian priest, the Rev. Dr. Kortright Davis

NEW US AMBASSADOR PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

The new United States Ambassador to Barbados, Larry Leon Palmer, presented his credentials to Acting Governor General, the Hon. Elliott Belgrave, in a short ceremony at Government House yesterday.


New US Ambassador, Larry Palmer, is in discussion with Acting Governor-General, Elliott Belgrave, after presenting the Head of State with his letters of credence.
