UN Secretary General Calls For Level Playing Field. With countries grappling with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing debts and a growing climate crisis, UN Secretary General, António Guterres, is calling for a level playing field for all involved. In fact, he called on countries represented at the conference to make better choices, and to have more discussions in order to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, and create an equal environment. “We can make progress to end inequalities that hinder sustainable growth and prosperity for all. We can recover better together in this extraordinary moment in history,” he suggested.

Treatment Of Small States Is “Immoral & Unjust” Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has told the global community that it is “immoral and unjust” for those causing the suffering of small island developing states, to say they should pay to correct the issues on their own.

UNCTAD 15 Can Be A Platform For Economic Recovery. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has set back the economic development of some countries by decades, President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta has suggested that leaders use the 15th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD 15) as the platform to restart the rebuilding process.

Economic Cooperation Is Vital To Equality & Prosperity —– During her remarks at the official opening ceremony of UNCTAD 15, held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, this morning, UNCTAD’s Secretary-General, Rebeca Grynspan stressed this point, as she emphasised that the world now stands at a critical point in the history of multilateralism.

UNCTAD Secretary General: Key Role For Conference. Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Rebeca Grynspan, believes this year’s event will be play a key role in the development of solutions to several challenges affecting the global community. She expressed this view during a media conference held today at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Conference Centre, where the three-day international event is being held.

Prime Minister: Need To Bridge The Digital Divide. Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley says there is a need to bridge the digital divide in the world. And, she believes that this situation must be tackled if the fundamental issues of inequality and vulnerability in the world are to be dealt with.
