The Barbados Defence Force (BDF) and the United Kingdom (UK) Armed Forces will jointly host the third annual UK Caribbean Heads of Defence Staff Conference in Barbados, from Tuesday, January 31, to Wednesday, February 1.
Chief of Staff, Commodore Errington Shurland, and the UK’s Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, will be among the speakers at the opening conference at Hilton Barbados Resort, Needham’s Point, St. Michael, on Tuesday, starting at 9:00 a.m.
The UK Caribbean Heads of Defence Staff Conference provides a platform for multilateral discourse on current and emerging threats to the region; analyses of the issues impacting regional security, including Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Response cooperation, and understanding the United Kingdom perspective on providing assistance in the aforementioned areas.
During the high-level conference roundtable discussions, the military heads and other stakeholders will explore the UK’s support for regional initiatives, the multidimensionality of the regional threat environment, and capacity development through training, consultation, and other initiatives.
