The 40th running of the Sandy Lane Gold was was indeed a thriller as Jalon Samuel has done it again. He is almost a sure bet when it comes to the Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup.
And with a signature run that saw him surge to the front after laying off the pace, he piloted It’s A Gamble to victory at the Garrison Savannah, extending his record number of wins in the prestigious horse race to six.
The horse is owned by Mark Goodridge and trained by Romell Lovell.
Veteran Patrick Husbands made a late run from near the back to seal second place on Tallahatchie Bridge and Antonio Bishop piloted So Suave to third place.
After the race, Samuel said the sixth “means a lot, to extend the lead again, to give them something to catch”.
