Barbados recorded 31 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, March 4, and 39 persons have recovered from the viral illness.
The new positives were identified from among the 588 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. There were 490 active cases of COVID-19, as of Thursday.
The 31 new cases comprise 12 women and 19 men. Fourteen of them had already been at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility undergoing assessment to determine whether they were newly positive, or had COVID-19 in the past and were no longer infectious. Of the 17 other cases, 15 are Barbadians and two are non-nationals.
Barbados has recorded 3,217 confirmed cases – 1,516 females and 1,701 males – and 2,690 persons have recovered. Thirty-seven people have died from COVID-19.
The public health laboratory has so far completed 128,879 tests.
On Thursday, 1,456 persons were vaccinated, as part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. To date, a total of 46,442 vaccinations have been administered – 19,593 men and 26,849 women.
