Scores of nurses march through The City on Thursday to pressure Government to address their long-standing grievances.
Loudly chanting “All I want to say is that they don’t really care about us”, the group led by the leader of the Unity Workers Union Caswell Franklyn started their march from Cheapside onto Broad Street and ended at Freedom Park.
Franklyn told reporters: “I think we had a good day. We were restricted by the COVID unit, the amount of people that we had, and we tried very hard to make sure we didn’t break any rules.
“You will see it was not a political march but nurses crying out for what they have been fighting for years.”
The nurses are pressing Government to address concerns including the need for better working conditions and increased pay, health insurance, improved nurse-to-patient ratios, remuneration for degrees and continuous training.
