Minister of Health and Wellness, Lt. Col. Jeffrey Bostic has dismissed as baseless a voice note which has been circulating on social media alleging that there is community spread of COVID-19 in Barbados.
Minister Bostic made it clear today that there was no evidence of community spread of the viral illness, and if this occurred at any time, the Ministry would immediately relay that information to the public.
“I am asking people who continue to spread malicious rumours to stop because they are creating anxiety in the country and causing the staff at the Ministry to divert from dealing with legitimate COVID-19 issues to address this misinformation,” he stated.
He said that it was important that the public continued to have confidence in the public health professionals charged with responding to this health challenge, who he added, had been doing outstanding work thus far.
