CropOver 2024 Culture Local News

As part of the Prime Minister’s Peace Initiative, we participated in a five-minute period of silence and reflection to acknowledge the national issue of violence. This took place at 12 noon during the Sunshine Snacks Junior Kadooment parade:

Prime Minister Mia Mottley ( second left ) viewing the young revellers at this year’s Junior Kadooment with the Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer Carol Roberts ( at left ), Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Senator Dr. Shantal Munro-Knight and partly hidden Chairman of the Board of the National Cultural Foundation (NCF), Dr Jasmine Babb.

  • The Prime Minister addressed the nation prior to the pause around 11:30 a.m., and was followed by a special presentation.
  • At this time the parade paused and all persons were asked to stop all activity until the proceedings was completed.
  • After the five-minute reflection, a performance will took place
  • Immediately after the activity the Junior Kadooment Parade resumed its vibrant celebrations which was captured by David Crichlow our Photographer and shown in the YouTube video above.
  • Our advertisers below made this possible.

This initiative underscored the role of young people in shaping the future, emphasising the importance of peace in all its forms.
