COVID curtails two major February festivals
A big event on the Bajan calendar scheduled for next month is off, while another appears to be on hold.
The week-long Holetown Festival slated for February 13-20 has been cancelled.
Thousands of Visitors flock to Barbados annually to visit Historic Holetown and participate in this Festival
According to the festival’s Public Relations Officer Jamar Brown the decision comes on the heels of the recent spike in COVID-19 cases and Government’s new curfew measures which have basically brouht entertainment to a standstill.
“As it stands today we cannot guarantee the one thing that our exhibitors and sponsors trust us above all else to deliver – namely a large-scale, high-quality-hosted buyer attendance,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society James Paul disclosed that Agrofest another major event on the Barbados calendar has been postponed. This particular event is one that thousands of Bajans participate in over a 3 day period.
James Paul speaking on the state-owned CBC said preparations have been suspended but discussions will continue with stakeholders on a possible new date later in the year.
