Barbados has recorded its 41st COVID-19 related death.

The deceased is a 70-year-old Barbadian man, who passed away on Thursday, March 25, at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility, where he had been a patient since February 24. He also suffered from chronic non-communicable diseases.

Meanwhile, 10 new cases, five females and five males, were identified out of the 645 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Thursday. There are now 157 persons in isolation on the island. Fifteen persons were discharged from isolation, after recovering from the viral illness.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 3,603 confirmed cases – 1,727 females and1,876 males, and recoveries now stand at 3, 419. The public health laboratory has so far processed 138,967 tests.

Forty-five persons were vaccinated on Thursday under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. To date, 62,802 vaccinations have been administered – 26,074 males and 36,728 females.

BARBADOS : COVID-19 Update: 8 New Cases, 11 Recovered

The island recorded eight new positive cases of COVID-19 – two men and six women – on Tuesday, March 23.

They were identified from among the 441 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.  A total of 11 people recovered and were discharged from isolation.  The number of cases in isolation is now 149.

There have been 3,582 confirmed cases – 1,718 females and 1,864 males – and 3,401 people have recovered since March 2020.  Forty people have died from COVID-19.

The public health laboratory has so far completed 137,567 tests.

On Tuesday, 945 people were vaccinated as part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. To date, a total of 62,765 vaccinations have been administered – 26,065 men and 36,700 women.
