British Reality TV Star Zara Holland was this morning fined $12000.00 Barbados ( $6,000.00 USD ) for breaching Barbados Corona Virus quarantine laws when she appeared in the District D magistrate court. Holland immediately pleaded guilty to breaking the islands Covid directive no 4 by leaving Sugar Bay hotel where she was staying awaiting results from her Covid test without reasonable explanation. Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes ordered her to pay the fine in seven days and I Holland refuses to pay the fine she would spend the next 9 months in the Dodds Prison. Holland 26 is currently out on $20000.00 bail with a surety to guarantee that the fine is paid.
The former Love Island Star was stopped at the Grantley Adams International Airport om December 29th before her test results came through. Her lead Attorney Andrew Pilgrim Q.C. said Holland had received two negative test and accepts that her attempts to leave the country was “ foolish” and she “ accepted full responsibility for her error .”
Chief Magistrate Weekes also declared in court that contrary to public opinion the court does not jail anyone but always does a means assessment to whether a convicted person can pay a fine in relation to such charges.
