Barbados’ Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, with special responsibility for Climate Change, SIDS Issues and Law of the Sea, Elizabeth Thompson, received a courtesy call from recently-appointed British High Commissioner to Barbados, Scott Furssedonn-Wood, at Government Headquarters, Bay Street, St. Michael, on Wednesday.
Ambassador Thompson described the talks as fruitful, noting that the United Kingdom is assuming the presidency of the United Nations Framework on Climate
Change, and discussions between the two sides included the subject of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, scheduled to be held in November in Glasgow, Scotland.
Climate change issues that directly affect small island states and the question of Climate Change Financing were also raised during the talks.
Also present at the courtesy call were Environmental Specialist, Dr. Hugh Sealy; Senior Environmental Officer at the Ministry of the Environment and National Beautification, Travis Sinckler; Caribbean Climate Change Policy Manager, Amy Smith, and Tom Hinds of the British High Commission.
