Barbados recorded 45 new COVID-19 positive cases on Thursday, February 25, while 99 persons recovered and were released from isolation.
These cases were among the 922 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory, which bring the number of active cases to 691. The positivity rate for Thursday was six per cent.
There was one death, a 79-year-old Barbadian man, who died at a nursing home. The death toll from COVID-19 is now 33.
The 45 positive cases comprised 21 women and 24 men. Seven of them had already been at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility undergoing assessment to determine whether their positive PCR test result showed that they were in fact newly positive, or whether they had COVID in the past and were no longer infectious. The other 38 cases were Barbadians.
