The island recorded two deaths from COVID-19 on Thursday, February 4.
They are a 93-year-old woman with co-morbidities who died at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility, and an 83-year-old man who passed away last night after being admitted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. As of Thursday, the number of deaths from COVID-19 stood at 17.
There were also 15 new cases on that day, out of the 713 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. Fifteen persons have recovered and were discharged from isolation. There are now 350 active cases.
The new positives comprise four women and 11 men. Four of them were previously sent to Harrison Point for assessment. Persons are sent to the isolation facility for assessment to confirm whether their PCR test result is that of a new case or an old case. Of the other 11 cases, eight were Barbadians.
The total number of persons diagnosed as positive at Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds remains at 362. Of these, 355 have recovered and the remaining seven inmates are included in the active cases.
To date, Barbados has recorded 1,656 confirmed cases – 683 females, 973 males – and 1,289 persons have recovered. The public health laboratory has completed 106,036 tests since February 2020.

COVID-19 Update: 25 New Cases, 32 Recoveries

Twenty-five new cases of COVID-19 – nine males and 16 females – were identified out of the 504 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Tuesday, February 2.
Seven of the new positives were persons previously sent to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility for assessment. A person would be sent to Harrison Point for assessment to confirm whether their PCR test result is that of a new case or an old case.
The other 18 cases include 15 Barbadians and two non-nationals. Meanwhile, nine persons have been sent to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility for assessment.
The number of confirmed cases at Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds remains at 362. Of this total, 355 have recovered, and the remaining seven inmates are included in the total of active cases, which to date stands at 359.
Additionally, 32 persons have been discharged from isolation after recovering from the viral illness. The number of recoveries now stands at 1,238, while deaths remain at 14.
The laboratory has conducted 104,838 tests since February 2020, of which 1,611 were positive for COVID-19, comprising 942 males and 669 females.

COVID-19 Update: 2 Deaths, 13 New Positives, 11 Recovered

Barbados recorded two COVID-19 related deaths on Sunday, January 31. They were a 55 year-old man and a 64-year-old woman who both had underlying chronic non-communicable diseases.
Their deaths bring the number of persons who have passed away from the viral illness to 14.
Thirteen persons were diagnosed with COVID-19 on Sunday, out of the 520 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. Eleven people were reported to have recovered and were released from isolation.
The number of active cases on the island is 375.
The 13 new positives comprise eight women and five men. Seven of them were previously sent to the Harrison’s Point Isolation facility for assessment.
A person would be sent to Harrison’s Point for assessment to confirm whether their PCR test result is that of a new case or an old case. Five of the other six individuals are Barbadian nationals.
The total number of persons diagnosed as positive at Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds remains at 362. Of these, 355 have recovered and the remaining seven inmates are included in the active cases.
To date, Barbados has recorded 1,558 confirmed cases – 642 females, 916 males – and 1,169 persons have recovered. The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory has so far completed 103,468 tests.

BARBADOS : COVID-19 Update: One Death, 21 New Positives, 25 Discharged

An 84-year-old Barbadian woman, who had a pre-existing chronic illness, is the latest casualty of COVID-19.
She died yesterday, Thursday, January 28. Her death brings to 12 the number of persons who have succumbed to the viral illness.
There were also 21 new positive COVID-19 cases recorded on Thursday. They were identified from among the 422 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.
Twenty-five people also recovered and were discharged from isolation. This brings the number of active cases in Barbados to 363.
The 21 new positives comprise 11 women and 10 men. Seven of them are persons who would have been sent to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility previously, for assessment. The other 14 persons are Barbadians.
Of the total 361 persons diagnosed as positive at Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds, 355 have recovered. The remaining six persons are included in the active cases count.
To date, Barbados has recorded 1,498 confirmed cases – 609 females, 889 males – and 1,123 persons have recovered.
The public health laboratory has so far completed 101,675 tests.

BARBADOS: COVID-19 Update: 34 New Cases, 19 Recoveries

Thirty-four persons were diagnosed with COVID-19 on Wednesday, January 27, from among the 363 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.
Nineteen persons have been reported as recovered, and are therefore to be released from isolation. This would bring the number of active cases to 368
The 34 new cases identified comprise 18 women and 16 men. Two of them are persons who were previously sent to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility for assessment. Of the 32 other cases, 28 persons are Barbadians, three are non-nationals, and one’s nationality is unknown.
The total number of cases at Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds remains at 361, consisting of 102 staff members and 259 male inmates.
To date, Barbados has recorded 1,477 confirmed cases – 598 females, 879 males – and 1,098 persons have recovered. Eleven persons have died from the viral illness.
The public health laboratory has completed 101,253 tests since February 2020.
