In celebration of Independence Day and Barbados’ transition to a Parliamentary Republic, the annual parade will be held in National Heroes Square from 8:00 p.m. to midnight, on Monday, November 29.
To facilitate the parade, there will be a number of road closures from midnight Thursday, November 25, to Thursday, December 2.
Those roads being closed to vehicular traffic in St. Michael are: Trafalgar Street; Broad Street from its junction with Prince William Henry Street to its junction with High Street; High Street, and Wharf Road. In addition, vehicular traffic will not be allowed to travel from Fairchild Street on to the Charles Duncan O’Neal Bridge.
On Monday, November 29, no person shall park along the following roads: Belmont Road; Constitution Road; Martindales Road; St. Michael Row; Bridge Street; Trafalgar Street; Magazine Lane; Fairchild Street; Probyn Street; Bay Street; Palmetto Street, and Rickett Street.
All motorists and pedestrians using any of the roads specified are asked to exercise caution and to comply with any order given by a member of the Police Force in uniform.
As a result of these traffic changes, there will be traffic diversions and members of the public are advised to expect delays, and should arrange their business accordingly.
Police officers will be present at various junctions to supervise movement of vehicular traffic in and around these areas. Motorists are advised to comply with the directions of police officers in uniform on duty in these areas.
