AG Warns Residents To Obey the curfew rules or face

As Government seeks to prevent the spread of COVID-19 across Barbados, anyone who breaks the curfew or disobeys restrictions now in place will be arrested.

Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Dale Marshall, made this clear as he addressed a press conference this afternoon.

In fact, he noted, one person was already charged with breaking the curfew, and others were also held by police.  “I think you can expect that if reckless behaviour continues, the response of the Royal Barbados Police Force will be commensurate,” he cautioned.

The Attorney General said while most Barbadians would reflect on the additional restrictions now imposed, they should also be aware that they would be “effectively policed”.

“I want to say to Barbadians that the police, and all of our civil authorities are fully behind these measures and will not be leaving anything to chance,” he stated.

The Minister also pointed out that the police had to shut down construction work on houses, despite a directive that it was to end, and issued warnings against restarting.

“I want to assure you that these restrictions are going to be taken very seriously and that individuals will be charged by the Royal Barbados Police Force if they continue to fly in the face of the law,” he warned, noting that there was too much at stake for the country.
